West Bend Happenings

We've had lots of questions about what's new in West Bend, and the answer is, "Not much." We received a confirmation from Maranatha that they've added Jason's resume to their ministry placement service and sent it to almost 50 churches. That sounds like a lot; but they sent us 1-page profiles of all the churches, and only a few of them are a possibility. Nonetheless, perhaps God will open one of these doors. Jason sent his resume to Northland last week, also, but we haven't heard from them yet. Their placement service is a little more involved than Maranatha's; NBBC tries to sort through some of the resumes and churches beforehand, so that their recommendations are a little more precise. Maranatha basically just swaps information between all pastors and all churches.

Sunday was unusual. It was strange not to be in a familiar church. In fact, we attended a Lutheran service. Jason has been curious to visit one for a while, and this was as good a chance as ever. It was an interesting experience, and we were glad we went. (Jared wanted to know why the pastor was "wearing that dress.")

Jason's been working a lot of hours with the construction company. He started last Wed., and worked 10 hours W & Th. On Friday, he got home at almost 9. Because they were working on an emergency home repair, he was asked to come in on Saturday, also. He left at 7, and got home past 10--p.m.! Because the work is so physical, he is absolutely sore! By the end of the summer, he should be tan and buff! :) The church gave us a generous love offering the last night we were there, and God provided for Jason to start this new job the last day that he was on the church's payroll. God is faithfully providing, and we are thankful for the sure knowledge of His perfect control over all these details.

The kids are unenthusiastically working on schoolwork. I don't think we'll finish the books this year, but they've already been warned that if they're not done, they will have to do math during the summer.

Micah has learned to pedal his bicycle, with training wheels. He's pretty proud of his accomplishment!

We rented a storage unit to store the things that are already packed, as well as "excess" furniture. I'm glad we did; it's really cleared up a lot of space in the house. It's easier now to see what needs to be done, as well as to have room to work on things that still need to be fixed.

Sunday night, Jason set up the tent in the back yard. Actually, it was right outside the back door, which made for an interesting sight when we walked out onto the porch. The kids slept in the tent Sunday night, which they thought was a great adventure. Micah was all excited until his siblings started telling stories; then he decided that, as it was rather dark outside, he'd be better off sleeping in his "comfy bed." :)

I suppose that's all for now. I hope you will sign up soon and add your own updates.

I think Micah was the smart one. :) I'd rather be in a "comfy" bed too!!

You signed up! Way to go, Lizzy! And, yes, Micah was way ahead of his siblings on this one.
